The Sky Factory, as an AIA CES Registered Provider, offers two visually rich courses that illuminate the psycho-physiological, biophilic, and sustainable foundations of our Illusions of Nature products. Both courses earn AIA members credit towards their annual continuing education requirements.
Each course is offered as a free, live webinar presentation to groups, typically scheduled over the lunch hour. Our Sustainability course is also offered as an online presentation through The Continuing Architect.

Sustainability, Biophilia, and Illusions of Nature
Learn how biophilic sustainable design incorporates illusions of nature to enliven our inherent propensity to enjoy, value, and care for nature.
In this course we address sustainability from the perspective of enlivening our relationship with nature. We look at our inherent attraction to nature, identified as biophilia, and explore the ways that our lives are dependently intertwined with nature and the many benefits that nature provides us. We look at emerging design trends that integrate nature into architecture to enliven and revitalize our dormant biophilia. Finally, we look at the value of illusions of nature as a practical way to bring nature's benefits to enclosed interiors.

Illusions of Nature in Architecture
Learn how integrating illusions of nature into architecture can infuse the healing, comforting and refreshing properties of nature into the built environment.
In this course you will learn about illusions — what they are, how they work, and how they benefit us. We look at examples of common illusions, and illusions found in historical and contemporary architecture. We explore the important connection between human beings and nature, and explore the benefits of using illusions of nature in healthcare, and other types of, architecture. Finally, we look at the sky as a universal natural experience and examine some of the important factors to consider when creating and installing an illusory sky.
