Cypress Glen Retirement Community
The 4' x 4' Luminous SkyCeiling shown here is installed in the quiet room of the Memory Care Cottage at Cypress Glen Retirement Community in Greenville, North Carolina. The Memory Care Cottage is home to 12 residents going through various stages of Alzheimer's.
The room, designed by the Cottage's Director Laura Jett, is a place for the residents to go and relax when they are feeling anxious or agitated. Peaceful music mixed with nature sounds is played. A wall mural featuring tree trunks works with the SkyCeiling showing the tops of overhead trees. The mural also shows a creek running through it and is enhanced by the sounds of running water from a wall fountain.
"It is really nice to sit in the room on a rainy day and feel like you are outside on a spring day," said Laura. "Everyone that visits compliments the SkyCeiling. We are planning to add one to our healthcare center too. I think it will be money well spent for the residents we care for."
