Finnish Institute of Occupational Health
The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) is charged with promoting occupational health and safety as part of what the organization calls 'good living' - an objective that fits hand-in-hand with biophilia. The Institute's aim is to see workers flourish by evaluating research-based, as well as creative and holistic solutions, such as the use of biophilic illusion of nature.
It is no surprise then when the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health decided to offer the experience of 'good living', or what can also be called 'biophilic engagement', in their own offices. The office in Tampere, the second-largest urban area in Finland, is one of six regional hubs, and the first to feature a Luminous SkyCeiling.
The beautifully decorated meeting room in FIOH's Tampere office combines contemporary white furniture with biophilic imagery on the wall and glass doors. A couple of bamboo plants also enhance the space and complement the new 4' X 12' Luminous SkyCeiling. The virtual skylight helps give volume to the meeting room and provides a visually refreshing Open Sky Composition to help staff relax throughout the day and be more productive.
The Finnish Institute brought in Luminous SkyCeilings to simulate a real skylight in their meeting room
Luminous SkyCeilings create a palpable feeling of ‘open space’ in windowless interior environments
