When Billings, Montana orthodontist Thomas Kovacs turned to the interior designers at CTA Architects for the design of his office he requested two things: a clean, professional look, and the incorporation of natural elements.
Dr. Kovacs, an enthusiastic outdoorsman, wanted to bring some of the great outdoors indoors. Project Designer Dawn Mackenzie produced a design that achieved both requirements, and more, a space that delights patients with the sound of water trickling down a rocky face, a fish-filled stream painted pattern on the floor, and several Sky Factory Luminous Rectilinear SkyCeilings creating virtual skylights over the patient chairs.
Mackenzie had specified Sky Factory Luminous SkyCeilings in a previous project for a radiology suite. She knew that the company delivered a quality product that was easy to install, and that the SkyCeilings also provided a certain "WOW" factor.
The ceiling had been under discussion because Kovacs' patients spent so much time looking up. "We talked about how dentists typically dealt with the situation — posters or pictures taped to the ceiling — and how bad they looked," said Mackenzie. "I knew that the Luminous SkyCeilings would give each patient an authentic view of wide open sky, along with the relaxation associated with enjoying that view."
"The project went very smoothly, and Dr. Kovacs and his patients are very happy with the SkyCeilings," Mackenzie said. "The Sky Factory is great to work with. The product is well thought out, the customer service is great, and it allows me to put a piece of the sky into just about any environment."
