National Heart Center
The National Heart Center in Singapore (NHCS) is a non-profit public healthcare institution wholly owned by the government of Singapore.
The Center treats over 100,000 patients annually, providing a one-stop comprehensive services that encompass everything from preventative care to diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative cardiac services.
The PET CT (Gamma Room) is equipped with two 6’ X 6’ Rectilinear Luminous SkyCeilings that open up the totally enclosed treatment room by creating the palpable illusion of accessible outdoor views. These biophilic illusions of nature go beyond providing positive distraction to the patient, but in fact deepening biophilic engagement.
By capturing the patient’s with custom-tailored Open Sky Compositions, not only is the eye engaged, but also areas of the brain involved in spatial cognition.
This re-assessment of depth that our spatial perception finds involved in results in a psycho-physiological response to the immediate environment, triggering an automated “relaxation response” that brings about relaxation for the patient and clearer images for the technician, which result in effective sessions.
