Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU) provides emergency and basic care for the Göteborg region and its 700,000 inhabitants, plus highly specialized care for West Sweden with its 1.7 million inhabitants.
SU was founded in 1997 when three hospitals merged: Mölndal Hospital, Sahlgrenska Hospital and Östra Hospital.
Sahlgrenska Hospital added a split 4’ X 8’ EcoSlim Luminous SkyCeiling to their therapeutic radiology suite and adjacent treatment bays to provide a deep experience of biophilic engagement for patients.
The high resolution digital imagery and color temperature of the light (6500K) reproduce the subtle hues and rich saturation of real skies.
These are just two of the design elements that make Sky Factory’s award-winning illusory skies trigger an automated “relaxation response” in the observer.
The ultimate goal is to alter the patient’s perceived experience of his or her surroundings through a series of cognitive design cues.
In enclosed LINAC environments, Sky Factory's proprietary radiology lighting nature compositions transform treatment suites with a reassuring perceived connection to open skies.
