April was an exciting month for our premium digital cinema products. The Mario Lemiuex Center for Blood Cancers in Pittsburgh, PA, feature a couple of high tech full motion illusions of natureTM brought to life by Sky Factory’s eScape Digital Cinema virtual window.

The warm hues and organic textures selected for the main lobby offer a welcoming frame to the soothing ocean views that patients and visitors can enjoy while waiting for family members or staff.

The installation is so distinctive that it made the front cover of Healthcare Design Magazine’s April issue. Although a picture is worth a thousand words, subscribers to the magazine might have confused Sky Factory’s high-tech illusion with an ordinary framed photograph.

But keen eyeballs on our staff were quick to point out that this was no ordinary wall décor, but an eScape virtual window that brings the dynamic beauty of nature – image, motion and sound- into interior environments, providing the much needed benefits of Biophilia to residents, medical staff and visiting families.

Nancy E. Davidson, director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and UPMC Cancer Center said, “the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers is our latest way of addressing patient care using our three pillars to optimize health: good science, smart technology, and patient-centered care.”

Sky Factory’s high tech cinematic illusions are an ideal fit with leading healthcare design philosophy by providing realistic illusions of nature that nurture the physiology of everyone that comes into the facility during trying times.
